| Now, it wouldn't have taken much for me to love the new Star Trek movie, so of course it blew me away. The true testament to the movies bodacity though, is that my boyfriend Shawn loved it as well. Hell, he wants to see it again. In a more expensive IMAX viewing. Without a coupon this time. He is decidedly NOT interested in the sci-fi genre. And yet he had nothing but praise.
ok, so it was in large part due to the near perfect features of Chris Pine...
I'm more of a Zachary Quinto fan, but Chris Pine comes in a close second. I do have to wonder about Shawn's supposed dislike of sci-fi, since he did question why Spock and Uhura were a couple in the movie, if in the TV show it was Kirk and Uhura who shared a kiss. Then again the only reason he knew about it was in the context of it being the first interracial on-screen kiss. Which brings me to one of the things I liked most about the movie, that with Spock and Nero having travelled back in time, altering the timeline, the writers can now basically rewrite history to a certain extent. This will be interesting.

| so today, we did some major cleaning in our store. The Regional Director and a handfull of District Managers are touring out district tomorrow, so you know, it's gotta be spic-n-span. So our manager asked a coworker to wipe down the outside of all of our garbage cans. You know, cuz the outside of a garbage can gets dirty and all, and that's the point of cleaning, to get the dirt off of dirty things. Well anyway, about ten minutes into her task, I hear her say to another coworker "Why do we clean the garbage cans? They're garbage cans!"

| so apart from Obama's speech, another thing bringing tears to my eyes is hearing about the reactions of people worldwide. In a forum, someone in Sydney said "our office erupted with cheers." From Ontario, Canada, one man wrote "My eyes are so red and puffy from happy tears, I wont lie. I've been balling like a baby and i'm not even an American. This man has something about him, the way he talks, it made me feel hope for a better world moving forward in a positive direction," and "I've heard people honking horns around my house. It's amazing how unified most of us feel right now. This is a victory not only for America but for the world." President Kibaki of Kenya calling President Obama's election "a momentous day not only in the history of the United States of America, but also for us in Kenya. The victory of Senator Obama is our own victory because of his roots here in Kenya. As a country, we are full of pride for his success." In Jakarta, Indonesia, "hundreds of students at [President Obama's] old elementary school poured into the playground and danced in the rain, some chanting 'Obama! Obama!'"
He has not only inspired hope in the vast majority of the American populace, but in people throughout the world. However inexperienced some may believe him to be, is that not the mark of a great leader? | Just a warning, this post is most likely not worth your time, it's really just me patting myself on the back.
so over the years I've had a number of people tell me that I'm really good at finding things on the internet. Like, if you need to find out the name of a certain song, a good site dealing with a specific subject, whatnot. Part of my success is just tenacity, although, as just happened today, a great deal from plain luck.
so, about three years ago, I fell in love with a song after watching the video of the Yves Saint Laurent spring/summer 2006 fashion show...
that song playing at the beginning had me enthralled, and was probably the major reason that I loved the collection so much, and what started my love affair with Stefano Pilati. But try as I might, I couldn't find out the name of the song. Even after finding out the name of the man who creates the soundtracks for the vast majority of fashion shows, Michel Gaubert (genius, btw) I still had no luck. Until today. Or, 3:00 in the morning, to be exact. I can't remember how, but I came across this video in my exploration of the interwebs...
you really don't have to watch the video, because the movie looks like it's...not so good, but a slightly different version of the song begins playing about halfway through the clip. I then tried to find information on the movie, which led me to the movie's official website, which THANKJEEBUSMARYJOSEPH had the full end credits, which of course includes the soundtrack.
